Quick Overview :

Maruti Suzuki India came up with a uniquely designed hatchback in 2017 "The Ignis". It was neihter like any other Maruti  hatch in the market nor like an SUV but it had its own charm to garner attention at its launch event in India. The car applead many peope at the launch event and created an interest among the indian audiences who looked confused but more eager to know more about this compact four wheeler from Maruti.

The Ignis was first showcased as the Suzuki iM-4 concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and later unveiled at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.

The Ignis was designed by Suzuki to offer its audience something more than its regular hatchs. The plastic cladding and big wheel arches, boxy looking head lamps with big grill upfront all makes it look an absolute small SUV.

But there is more to the offerings to this car apart from just the style and looks, we take a good look at how different the car is in the segment and how better will it do in the indian market.

EXTERIOR

Design is personal preference, some feel it to be archiac while others consider it to be Classy yet modern.

The Front has been given a bolder look to stand out in a wide sea of hatchback cars. The car looks wide with big head lamps  and  higher bonet line, bumper looks elegant  with classic fog lamps and alot of crome which goes very well with the entire design theme.

The side profile of ignis looks boxy and reminds alot about some of the older hatchback versions. The car has a good height and groundclearence with 15 inch rims 175/65 tyres.

The rear is were Ignis gives you an archiac feeling with tailamps and rear windshield which look copy and pasted from the 90s.

INTERIOR

The car has a good width which means occuping 5 people would be at ease and with the amount of height it has, even the taller passengers would accomodate comfortably.

The car has a ton of features attached to it, the list includes a 2-DIN audio system with USB, Bluetooth and steering mounted audio controls to name a few.

The boot space is 260 litres and 415 litres with rear seats folded which seems quite good for luggages to the weekened trips.

ENGINE

The car comes with both petrol and diesel engines: the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol which churns out 84 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm  and the 1.3-litre MJD diesel unit with 75PS of power at 4,000 rpm and 190Nm peak torque at as low as 2,000 rpm and has Sigma, Delta, Zelta & Alpha variants in automatic and manual versions. The company claimed fuel efficiency for Ignis is 20 kmpl for petrol and 26 kmpl for diesel.

Safety Features

• Maruti Suzuki Ignis gets Suzuki TECT body.
• ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, dual front airbags, and seatbelt pretensioners as standard equipments.

Prices for Ignis come with Two mannual and two automatic Variants ij both the petrol and diesel options and prices starts at 4.82 Lakh for the base variant and upto 8.21 lakh for top variant models(Ex showroom Delhi).
