How good is Maruti Suzuki's Premium Hatchback?

Its been almost a year since Maruti Suzuki launched Baleno, the Company's first premium hatchback and right from the time of its launch till date the Company has sold almost 1 lakh units. This staggering figures shows the kind of popularity the car has garnished over such a short period of time in the Indian Automobile sector.

Before the launch of baleno the premium hatchback segment was purely dominated by Hyundai's stylish hatchback the i20 Elite.


We take a look at why the baleno has managed to garner so much attention in this premium hatchback segment.





EXTERIOR



The Maruti Suzuki Baleno sports a water flow design which stands at 1500 mm height with 3995 mm length and 1745 mm width. It gets 16 inch 12 spoke alloy wheels 195 /55 tyres for the top variants. Chrome door handles day time running Led lights are available on Zeta Delta automatic and Alpha variants.





INTERIOR



The Baleno has an all black theme for the dashboard seats and door panels.




The top of the line Alpha variant diesel engine options comes with a touch screen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity  and Apple carplay.



The car has a boot capacity of 339 litres which is good enough to carry big luggage bags.



ENGINE




Maruti Suzuki Baleno is available in both petrol and desiel versions.


The 1197 cc petrol motor generates 83 bhp of power at 6000rpmwith 115 Nm of torque at 4000rpm whereas the diesel produces 74 bhp at 4000 rpm with 190Nm at 2000 rpm.

The Baleno comes with 2 gearbox options a 5 speed manual and CVT automatic.




SAFETY FEATURES

The car comes wuth ABS/ EBD and dual front airbags as standard across all variants.


Maruti Suzuki India has left no stones unturned when it comes to equiping the car with the technical features that its rivals offers.Thus making it a very attractive package to resist and with the suzuki's logo on the car the sales figure are sure to continue their surge for many months ahead. 


Meanwhile the Baleno RS is also in pipeline for India and will be powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol mill under its hood.
